Why it may be beneficial to wear SPF inside, not just outside
What is all the talk about Blue Light?
Blue Light is the colour in the visible light spectrum that can be seen by the human eye. It gives us blue skies and is adjacent to Ultraviolet in the spectrum of sunlight.
In the last few years and in particular with lock downs, Blue Light has come indoors. It is emitted by many electronic devices such as TV’s, smartphones, tablets and LED lighting.
BUT is Blue Light a problem?
Research is ongoing to prove that Blue Light induces oxidative stress in the skin. The stress can trigger various adverse biological effects which can lead to accelerated ageing.
So in answer to the question, should we use SPF products indoors – YES
Look for a good moisturising formulation (central heating can be very drying) with an SPF 20-30 and that incorporates some physical / mineral protectants. SOS H20 Day Cream with SPF 30 & SOS SPF 50 Sun Cream are perfect forward thinking formulations.
